Best Western Jicarilla Inn and
Wild Horse Casino - Dulce, NM
We recently completed a project for the Jicarilla Apache Tribe of New Mexico. The project, located in the high mountains of Northern New Mexico, is an outdoor sportsman paradise located at an elevation of 6700 feet above sea level. Our clients sought a sophisticated yet comfortable space for their community and guests alike. Our firm designed an environment that is culturally sensitive to the rich Native heritage while honoring the beauty and resources of the area. Natural stone, timber, earth-pigmented plaster, and supple leathers were interwoven with contemporary elements to create an exceptional space.  The project consists of a 30,000 square foot remodel and an addition of a 15,000 square feet that includes a Casino, a spacious new lobby, a unique conference room with a native painted doeskin conference table, and a gift shop. The lounge is adorned by spectacular hunting trophies. The restaurant, staff and casino offices all maintain the same elegant rhythm. Every room flows with a natural grace that extends beyond the large windows to the mountains, fields, streams and big sky that surround the Inn. This project is a celebration of life, nature, legacy, ritual, culture, and community. The organic elegance of the surrounding region was our inspiration. We then developed our design scheme from the rugged splendor of the land, which is still wild and untouched, while incorporating elements of the spirit, pride and traditions of the native people. |
